Well, after a year and a half break, I’ve finally returned…and my body certainly felt it during the first week back!

(Used with permission by Everday People Cartoons)
Yes, I’m back to having a regular exercise routine. It works out for me to do my 20-minute pilates DVD workout every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning and then just do arm exercises using light weights (2 lbs.) for about 10 minutes on the other mornings. I think I’ll eventually add jump roping to the Tuesday and Thursday workouts, but I thought I’d start with this routine before adding anything else. Sunday, however, is my day off! The only exercise routine I’ll have that morning is to do some stretches as I reach for my hot cup of tea and fresh bread!
But…it’s amazing, after just 2 weeks, how much better I feel and how much more energy I have. I knew I needed to get back to it, but I just needed to finally take that first step.
Would you mind being one of my accountability partners? Every once in awhile, out of the blue, please ask me how I’m doing with my exercise – Am I keeping up? Exercising regularly? Thanks!
Your turn to share: Do you have a regular exercise routine? If so, what is it? If not, be praying that the Lord will help you to take that first step! You can do it! We all need to do it.
1Cor. 6:19,20 (NIV)
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Hey Kristin!
I visit a free website called sparkpeople.com. My calories are tracked on there, I have created a profile, and I am trying to exercise a little each day.
My big work-out consists of a 3 mile walk aerobics through Leslie Sansone. I’m BIG on walking and I have already lost 2.6 LBS as I am JUST trying to get back into it myself.
I SURE WILL be your accountability partner! I would love to! Thanks for this website. It will be wonderful to stay in touch with you. Thanks for the verse!
xxoo!

Exercise…Excellent…the routine is the best way to notice changes. Right now I’m doing other stuff breaking from the routine–kayaking, softball, raquetball, fun summer stuff…it’s so easy to fall out of routine. Accountability is great–I’m in!

Love that cartoon!
You know, for a long time now I’ve been telling people that my 2,4 and 6 year olds are my three little aerobics instructors, but lately I’m admitting to myself that believing that is a bit of a cop-out. I really need a scheduled exercise time to commit to.
I’ll hold you accountable if you do the same for me!

Hi Kristin!
This is the first entry I’ve read and already it’s resonating with me!
The routine is so important and soooo easy to slip away from. Why is it that even though I know I’ll feel better when I’m done, I still so often talk myself into sleeping just a little longer (which often turns into not sleeping because by then I’ve realized I have to use the bathroom)? Accountability is the key for me. I did best when we were doing a competition at work with pedometers and we were in teams. Individually I wouldn’t have cared if I did well, but because I had teammates counting on me, that got me out of bed extra early!
BTW, Carissa, I love Leslie Sansone too! It’s a great workout, but doesn’t require you to be a dancer or contortionist or anything!
You’ve inspired me! I’m back to the three mile tape tomorrow morning!

Kristin,
We finally got a membership at the Y last fall. Lisa Sanzo and my neighbor are my “Where were you yesterday?” accountability partners. Excercising with friends is great fun. I was doing pretty good during the school year especially since Nathan went to the UPK at the Y. Summer has been spotty, but I’m excercising more than I was a year ago:)

Fun blog. And I do see Melody early in the morning at the Y – go Melody, go Kristin. You are setting a great example. (I admittedly am not at the Y to exercise, even though I paid for a membership – I am just dropping off Amber at camp)

I have to admit I have NO DESIRE to get into an exercise routine–and it shows!!!!!
Are there any other women out there with this poor attitude????
I do try to watch what I eat though, so that’s part of the battle!
Sorry I wouldn’t be much of an accountability partner, but I’ll think of you losing the weight you want to and feeling better and I’ll cheer!!

Hey Maureen I have a feeling that you and I could be great friends
I love to dance if no one is watching me, which is why I don’t take classes~ no way am I going to be in any end of the year recital! Now if you will just pray that the dvd will come, I ordered it from LTD and that is always an “iffy” thing at best!
Unfortuantely you and I are in the same boat! I am working on my motivation though, because I know that I need to DO something. Just before Kristin (literally hours!) wrote this blog I found a dance exercise dvd that I ordered. I figure that dancing will make it feel less like exercising! (at least I hope so!) Plus I figured once I got the routines down maybe I’ll be able to do them to praise music. I hope that my wanting to dance doesn’t offend the Free methodist women who read this, I’m a FM outreach kid, not born and raised

Exercise, I was doing well until the summer heat wave hit. I’m trying to ‘win’ a free one month pass to either curves or Leroy Physical Therapy thru the summer reading program. The drawing is next week. I really need to go somewhere to exercise because I don’t do it on my own. In the mean time, I’ll see what I have stored in my TV cabinet.
I will keep you accountable and please encourage me to do the same. I’d like to lose the few pounds I’ve put on during the summer and an additional 10 pounds.
God has a way of speaking to us at just the right time. I feel HE is saying “get moving Lynda no more excuse”. Thanks!!

At Christmas time I encouraged my family to give the “gift of time” to a member of our family. So we drew names and my daughter-in-law and I were teamed to give the gift of time to each other throughout the year. When June hit, my daughter-in-law asked if I would like to walk with her – at 5:00 AM! – before my son left for work. This time together has been a blessing; we laugh and moan and sometimes wonder what in the world we are doing, tromping the Main Street of Albion at 5:00 AM, but I am so grateful for the accountability this arrangement has brought, as well as the opportunity to “bond”, so to speak. I have a very keen awareness that she watches me – my Christian walk – and that also makes me accountable to the Lord, as well. I want her to see that a relationship with Jesus is what “the church” is all about, not just head knowledge. I’d covet your prayers on that. Accountability – yep, that’s what we need!

I need a lot of help to get back into exercising. I was doing great for a while, then got pregnant, then had a baby, and now my “baby” is 16 months old. so, I haven’t had a regular work out program in over 2 years. I have worked out in spurts here and there. I think what is hard is that I am back to my old size and weight, so I am not too motivated to do anything. But, when I look closely and see all the flab where there was once toned muscle, I do feel yucky. I always do best working out with a partner, and I don’t seem to have one at the moment. Plus, I am only working part time, so a gym membership is not really in our budget. I am not trying to make excuses, I am just letting you all know where I stand. Prayers and encouragement are welcome!

Sherrie, you’re probaly going to laugh at me, but the one big “complaint” at my age at having grown up Free Methodist was that I never learned to dance! I am an absolute clutz! So, in order to avoid huge embarrassment by attempting a dance class I bought an exercise dance tape – Latin dance of all things! Now there is a confession for you. My plan is to sweat off some pounds and maybe, just maybe figure out how to move my feet. I’m taking it on vacation so the my daughter-in-laws and daughter can participate and have a good laugh with me. I’ve been so intimidated by the tape I haven’t even tried it yet! Maybe you can teach me…:-)

I had used a pilates video in the beginning of June. I was doing great! I did it for 2 weeks straight! I felt great and I knew I was doing something good for my body! I haven’t done it since June, so maybe this will give me some incentive however I seem to need a lot of incentive these days! That for keeping us accountable!
