I thought I would pass along my recommendation for this book by Randy Alcorn. I read it some time ago, but it affected me so much that I still think about its contents quite often. The way he portrayed one’s purpose here on earth (as we have been looking at in our Bible study), heaven and the afterlife, as well as the underground church in China, was powerful and challenging.
Max is not usually one to read novels, but I was so challenged by it that I encouraged him to read it as well. It also had a powerful impact on him.
Right now, I am reading another book by Randy Alcorn entitled Deadline. I will let you know what I think of it once I finish it!
Matthew 5:10 (NIV) Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Your turn to share: What book have you read lately that you would recommend?
NOTE: Week four of the Bible study (Working Together as the Body of Christ)has been posted.

I recently read “Under the Overpass”. It was really good as well. It’s about a college kid who takes a semester off to live homeless with a friend in some of the big cities across the U.S. It is powerful to read ways in which God provided for them, the inside scoop on living homeless, and also rejection that they experienced at church and by Christian people. It changed my perspective on the homeless and poor.

I have some favorite authors that I try to read everything they write. Randy Alcorn is one of them and I enjoy his books too. Some of the other authors are Karen Kingsbury, Ted Dekker, Francine Rivers and Brock & Bodie Thoene. I get excited when I see a new book coming out from one of these authors!
What a privilege to be able to read!!

Safely Home is one of my favorites too. I also recently read “A Heavenly Man” about Brother Hun and the persecuted church in China… that was incredible. I’ve loaned it out so can’t tell you the author.
