OK - true confession time. I am a reformed shopping cart abandoner (is that a word?). You know - one of those people who do not return their cart to the cart corral. Why did I do it? I guess I felt like I had small children and didn't want to leave them in the car while I returned the cart. This year my New Year's resolution was to be considerate and get a little extra exercise at the same time.

I am glad to report that I am now taking a few extra steps and disposing of my cart as I should. It feels good. Baby steps, baby steps.

I didn't make any specific resolutions this year, but am always on a journey to improve. Over the last year I have printed and posted Bible verses all over the house: on the back door, the bathroom mirror, the kitchen cabinets, the refrigerator, the computer. I read and re-read them often.

I use to be very good at memorizing scripture. I've gotten out of the habit, but I'd like to try it again. I'll let you know how I do.

I'm trying monthly resolutions instead. This has everything from exercising more consistenly to doing devotions more consistently (the same time every day). I find these short term goals work better. Blessings,

I honestly do not make NY's resolutions. However, I'm constantly telling myself,"Sue, you know what is MOST IMPORTANT, SO DO IT." However, being a detail person, I fear that I still find my self, at times, picking up the house, writing that note of encouragement, putting the dirty dieshes into the dishwasher or tending to whatever seems messy or unkept. However, I WILL do my devotions first, then take care of those "whatevers." A dear sintly freind of mine used to say -"I read my Bible before I read the newspaper."

My NYR was to read the Old Testament through, in chronological order, using the NLT Chronological Bible in One Year. I find myself so enjoying these great Old Testament stories again. I'm already ahead in my reading by a couple of weeks.
I find it so difficult to memorize scripture, but I keep a type-written sheet of favorite versus in my purse. That way when I have a few moments of down time (like sitting in the doctor's office or waiting my turn in the car wash line) I can pull it out and read through them.

My NYR's were to blog more, and to live more intentionally. My blogging is doing pretty well, and I also have been more aware of my attitudes and behaviors and have taken steps to simplify my days. Like, not answering the phone on Mondays, for example.
What is your memorization method? I usually write out the verse on pretty paper and then put it in my medicine cabinet above the bathroom sink. That way, I can memorize it while I bruch my teeth.
XOXO,
Joce
