Do you have a hard time memorizing Bible verses? If so, click here (or on the title in the top bar of this page) to read the method I have been using to help me this year. Also, I hope that others will give suggestions as well as share any other memorization methods that have worked for them. Let’s hide God’s Word in our hearts together!
Now, for accountability sake, please allow me the opportunity to recite last month’s memory verses to you:
(Deuteronomio 6:4-9) Escucha, Israel: El SEÑOR nuestro Dios es el único SEÑOR. Ama al SEÑOR tu Dios con todo tu corazon y con toda tu alma y con todas tus fuerzas. Grábate en el corazon estas palabras que hoy te mando. Incúlcaselas continuamente a tus hijos. Háblales cuando estés en tu casa y cuando vayas por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes. Átalas a tus manos como un signo, llévalas en tu frente como una marca; escríbelas en los postes de tu casa y en los portones de tus ciudades.
(Deuteronomy 6:4-9) Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Thanks for the helpful ideas and challenge. I have been wanting to do this more/better but I can’t even recall what I just read to the kids last week anymore.

Might I also suggest…
Get several cheap picture frames at WalMart.
On 8.5 x 11 paper, have the kids make posters of verses. Hang them throughout the house where sitting happens…potty, kitchen, bedroom, etc. I remember so many verses from when I was in Christian Jr Hi/Hi School, looking at the walls, daydreaming in class. I can even envision them in the various rooms where I sat. The brain is an amazing thing!

Many times there are songs about Bible Verses, and there is one for this one. Since I am a big “singing buff”, that really helps me.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, with all your strength.” I can’r remember who sings it, but it popped into my head. If I can sing it or make a song for it, then I can memorize it better. Kind of like the 12 disciples song and the books of the Bible.

I am like Carissa, If I can sing a Bible verse, I’ll remember it. Then when I read that verse in my Bible, I have trouble reading it without breaking out into the song. Just like the ABC’s. How many of us still sing that?
