Last week, a fun time was had by all at our church’s VBS program. I had a great time being “music lady” and singing with the eighty-five children that attended.
Each morning, it was always such a joy to see the happy, eager, and excited faces of the children as they arrived with great anticipation and enthusiasm to sing songs, do crafts, eat snacks, play games, and listen to a Bible story.
It is with that amount of anticipation and enthusiasm that I hope to wake up with each morning as the Lord reveals what is in store for the new day ahead.
I pray that each child saw and felt the love and joy of Jesus in each one of us that served Him in this way last week. May He work in each of their precious, little hearts and continue to draw them to Himself.
Mark 10:14 (NIV) When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
Your turn to share: Have you had the opportunity to serve in a ministry program this summer?

Hi Kristin,
Well, this week there is VBS in Kendall. The great thing about it is that 4 very small churches come together to do it every year! So, the Catholic, United Methodist, Lutheran, and Baptist churches all take turns to host it. Everyone works together! A few years ago, someone asked me to help with it since I “went to church”. So, even though I attend outside of the community, at Pearce, this is a great way that we can serve Christ in our own community each summer. So, I am the music lady this week!! Today, one of the teachers and I had tears and goosebumps while her group was singing. The song was called, “Praise Be To God.” These 2nd and 3rd graders really took this song seriously and sang from their hearts! The teacher and I could hardly get through the song because they sang like angels standing before God! Isn’t it great that God can use children to allow the Holy Spirit to move!
I love that the kids at VBS can get to know me here since most of them see me at school when I am subbing. So, it is great for them to have that connection outside of school and to know that I am a Christian.
I echo the prayer in your last paragraph! Today’s lesson was about the mustard seed! We pray that those planted seeds will grow such a big faith in these kids! They can revive these small churches in a few years as they are continually fed by God’s Word!

Hi Kristin! As a result of our exciting VBS experience in Chile, our church did our own VBS last week after several years of not doing so! It was a wonderful week and I think everyone involved was grateful and happy for the experience. We concentrated on our immediate neighborhood, as we did in Chile, and had participants from that area. Nothing can beat the experience of Pastora Lorena, however, calling the children from the neighborhood with their antiquated sound system, but with joyful music and encouraging words echoing throughout the immediate area! To see little ones hand-in-hand coming from every direction to attend our VBS in Chile was a thrill to behold. With very little of the “props” we usually have in VBS, VBS in Chile was perfect and the message of Jesus was given. I think we Americans are still a bit too conservative to do as Pastora Lorena did – but she sure got the job done!
I received your postcard! Thanks. Can’t wait to connect.

Northgate is doing Street Jam in Centennial Park next week. Unfortunately, we have plans to be away but I am hoping to help out with some publicity passing out flyers before we go. Lori Johnson and her crew are pulling together pirate themed skits for the week. Sounds like it will be a blast:)

Northgate’s Street Jam was a success!! I was one of the Pirate Crew. It was so much fun and the smiles and the laughter from the children and adults were priceless. The Lord blessed us with no rain!! We had one child about 8 or so bring his younger sibling (18 months) because they were home alone. About 7 gave their lives to Christ. I hope they do it again next year.
