Do you have someone in your life that always seems to have connections – that “knows somebody”?
Max and I just laugh at our friend and fellow pastor, Eduardo. He is one of those guys. You need some drywall? No problem. Eduardo knows somebody that can give you a good deal. You need 150 pens, with a personal message printed on them, for your women’s conference? Sure. Eduardo has a friend that can hook you up.
Well, the connections continue. The other night, at about 11:30pm, our phone rang. Max and I looked at each other and simultaneously said, “Must be Eduardo!” Sure enough, it was.
Eduardo: “Hey, Max. Lorena and I were invited to attend a special meeting next week. Do you and Kristin want to go? I am allowed to invite a few others to come with us. The Chilean Evangelical Association is going to have a meeting with the President.”
[Eduardo was invited to this event due to the fact that he was recently elected to be the president of his comuna’s ministerium (a group of church leaders). He will be representing the people – over 200,000 – that live in his section of the city, the poorest municipality in Santiago.]
So, tomorrow morning (Wednesday), we are headed with Eduardo, Lorena, Karim Loyola (our FM Chilean Supt.), his wife, Carmen, and other representatives from the evangelical association to meet with President Michelle Bachelet. I will let you know how it goes! Please pray with us that the Lord’s light will shine through us!
(Hebrews 13:17, NIV) Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as [wo]/men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.
Your turn to share: Have you ever met a president?
